Connecting a bank account

Is this secure?
Touco uses an Open Banking provider called OpenWrks, which is regulated by the same governing body as banks (the Financial Conduct Authority). This means it's as secure as your online banking.

Why am I being directed to another website?
Since OpenWrks is a third party provider, you are guided through the process of connecting a bank account using their website. We open this in another tab so that you can easily come back to Touco to finish signing up or get support.

Why can't I find my bank on the list?
We currently only support UK based banks that use Open Banking technology. If you can't find your bank on the list, tell us so we can investigate supporting it in the future.

Why can't I connect to my bank account?
There may be a number of reasons you cannot connect to your account:

  • Your login credentials for your online banking are incorrect.
  • Your bank connection has timed out due to poor signal.
  • Your banks systems or OpenWrks are down.

For security reasons, we can't tell you what has gone wrong, so we recommend you do the following:

  • Double check your online banking credentials are correct.
  • Check your internet connection or phone signal is stable.
  • Check if your bank or OpenWrks is having technical issues.

If the issue is technical, we recommend coming back in a few hours and trying again when it will likely be resolved.

Will the person who invited me be able to see my transactions once I connect?
The person who invited you will not be able to see your transactions until you give us permission to share them. This does not happen at the point you connect your bank account to Touco using OpenWrks.

When you are redirected back to Touco from OpenWrks, you will be able to select and confirm which connected bank accounts you want to share with the person who invited you.

What if I want to connect more than one account?
You can connect as many accounts from as many banks as you want, provided they support Open Banking technology. This option will appear once you have connected a bank and allow you to reinitiate this process.

Can I disconnect my account in the future?
Touco currently doesn’t manage this connection, so you’d need to go to your bank to revoke access. This can be done through online banking.

How do I add more accounts once I've signed up?
It is not possible to connect further bank accounts after sign up, so make sure you connect everything you want to share whilst signing up.

Why do I need to refresh my connection every 90 days?
Every 90 days, you will need to reconnect and re-consent Touco's connection with your bank. This is part of the Open Banking standard to keep you in control of what apps can access your banking data.

A lot can happen in 90 days, so this is also an opportunity to review whether the banking transparency Touco provides has been useful and make any helpful changes.
